I like a logo challenge. A local property company needed an identity that captured its uniqueness in providing spaces for artists and makers to flourish. ‘Savoury Soaps’ is an unusual name, having no immediate connection with the world of property letting but reflects the creative, playful, open-minded attitude of the company.
The ‘S’ at the beginning and end felt like it needed to be exploited and the ‘O’ in each word was a fortuitous detail I could exploit. The client had asked for ivy to feature in the design and this gave me a soft, fluid element to balance with the solid, industrial look of the typeface. I wanted to illustrate the part played by Savoury Soaps in the creative process – enabling artists and makers to produce their art by providing beautiful spaces to work in. Rather than simply embellishing the type with a floral pattern I’ve shown it ‘growing’ from the name. I knew those two ‘O’s would come in handy!
